Medicaid provides healthcare coverage for certain low-income individuals. Funded by a combination of federal and state funds, Medicaid is similar to a health insurance program, but with a few exceptions, such as for the Medicaid Purchase Plan (MAPP), there are no insurance premiums and very few limitations on coverage.
The Medicaid Purchase Plan offers people with disabilities who are working or interested in working the opportunity to buy health care coverage through the Wisconsin Medicaid Program.
There are several other types of Medicaid determined by eligibility guidelines. Income and asset requirements are based on Federal Poverty Level (FPL) guidelines and/or federal program rules. Some of the available programs are: BadgerCare Plus, BadgerCare Plus Prenatal, Well Women Medicaid, Family-Based Medicaid and Elderly, Blind or Disabled Medicaid as well as some other more limited coverages. For more information see the Wisconsin Department of Health website.
